James McCoy
James graduated from Haskell High School in 1974, then attended Texas A&M for 3 semesters. After transferring to Abilene Christian University, he graduated with a biology degree in 1979. Upon completion of his undergraduate studies, he attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1981.
James has been active in the Abilene Community. He has served as PTA President for Taylor Elementary Schoolas well as serving on the board for American Red Cross, Disability Resources, Taylor County Child Advocacy Center, Hope Haven, Abilene-Taylor County Public Health Advisory Board, Hope for Life and Christian Village.
Jason Heuerman
After graduating from Merkel High School in 1993, Jason received his Bachelor of Sciences in Biology from Abilene Christian University in 1997. Upon completion of his undergraduate studies, Jason attended Texas Tech University Health Sciences School of Pharmacy in Amarillo where he received his Doctorate of Pharmacy in 2001.
In addition to his role as a pharmacist at the Drug Store, Jason has been active with Texas Tech School of Pharmacy in Abilene. He has served as an instructor in the Drug Delivery Systems Laboratory as well as helped to create an outpatient Pediatric Clerkship for fourth year pharmacy students. Currently, Jason is serving as a preceptor for Pharm.D. candidates. Jason is a member of the National Community Pharmacist Association.
Matthew Pennington
After graduating from Eula High School in 2007 as the valedictorian, Matthew studied Pre-Pharmacy/Biochemistry at Angelo State University from August 2007 to May 2009. He was then accepted into the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy and graduated with a Doctorate in Pharmacy in 2013. Matthew received the Mylan Excellence in Pharmacy Award in 2013 upon graduation.
Matthew is currently an active board member for the West Texas Pharmacy Association and alumni for the Phi Delta Chi Gamma Eta Chapter professional pharmacy fraternity. He is certified to perform non-sterile compounding by Professional Compounding Centers of America (PCCA) and sterile compounding by the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy. Matthew is an ACPE accredited immunizer and licensed preceptor by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
Trey Guffey
After graduating from Jim Ned in 1989, Trey subsequently attended Angelo State University for 2 years where he studied chemistry and biology in preparation to pursue a degree in pharmacy. He attended pharmacy school at Southwest Oklahoma State University and graduated with honors in December of 1993.
After meeting on a medical mission trip to Peru in 2001 and exploring that country’s Andes Mountains together, Trey married his lovely wife Julie the following year. Trey and Julie now have 3 children together: Evan, Andie Grace, and Dean. The Guffey family enjoys serving as a visitation home for 2 wonderful kiddos from the Hendrick Home for Children. Trey’s ancestors have lived in the Jim Ned Valley area continuously for over 110 years. He serves his community by serving as both a member of the Jim Ned School Board and as a deacon at Jim Ned Valley Church of Christ. When he finds time between chasing his children’s music and sporting events, Trey is a private pilot and a cattleman. Trey’s family owns a ranch in the south Jim Ned Valley where he raises registered Gelbvieh cattle and fulfills his interest in genetics. Trey believes that prompt, courteous, and efficient service in his pharmacy is his way to give back to the community that has given him so much.
Jon Pate
Jon grew up in Dublin, Texas where his father and grandfather were both physicians. After graduating from Dublin High School he attended Tarleton State University and Texas Tech University to complete his pharmacy pre-requisites. After that, he attended and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy with his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2002.
Jon is a certified immunizer and also serves as a preceptor for the Texas Tech School of Pharmacy Pharm. D. candidates. Jon is also an Elder at First Central Presbyterian Church and is active in its LOGOS program and youth group. When not working, Jon enjoys spending time with his wife Susan and children Jacob and Hannah. He also enjoys traveling with his family and spending time hunting with his son.
Lucas Holt
Lucas is an Abilene native, graduating from Abilene High School in 2000. He pursued his undergrad courses at both Cisco Jr College and Texas Tech University before enrolling in pharmacy school. He attended Texas Tech School of Pharmacy where he was a member of the Phi Delta Chi organization and graduated in 2007. He and his wife met at a Wednesday night bible study in Amarillo, TX. They lived in Midland, TX for two years before deciding to adventure in Colorado for the next decade. In Colorado he was a staff pharmacist and then the pharmacy manager for 7 years where he received the humbling award of Pharmacy Manager of the Year for King Soopers. He is currently certified in non-sterile compounding by PCCA, and is also a certified immunizer by the ACPE. This year Lucas, his wife Chelsea, their daughter Ensley, and son Kade, decided they were ready to get closer to family and moved back to Abilene. They are excited about getting involved with Abilene through both school and church.
Lucas enjoys hunting, fishing with his kids, playing golf with his wife and cooking out for friends and family.
Alex Ibarra
Alex graduated from Del Rio High School in Del Rio, Tx in 2004. He began his college career at Cisco Junior College in Abilene that same year, focusing on Arts and Sciences. Life quickly lead him to the Lubbock area, where he obtained two Associate Degrees: an Associates in General Studies, and another in Arts and Sciences from South Plains College in Levelland, Tx. He began his pharmacy career as a Certified Pharmacy Technician in Levelland, Tx, and soon realized that he wanted to continue studying pharmacy. Alex joined the Texas Tech Pre-Pharmacy program in 2011, and then was accepted by the University of North Texas School of Pharmacy in Fort Worth, Tx, where he graduated as an inaugural class member with a Doctorate of Pharmacy in 2017. He was also a founding member of his Chapter in the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity. Alex is an ACPE accredited immunizer, and licensed preceptor by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. As a bilingual pharmacist, Alex looks forward to help out in the local community to the best of his abilities.
When not working, Alex enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and performing outdoors activities.
